Juventus is the winner for Coppa What a new record? Juventus won the Coppa Italia for the 14th time on Wednesday, defeating Atalanta 2-1 at the MAPEI Stadium.

Despite Ruslan Malinovskiy scoring for La Dea, Dejan Kulusevski and Federico Chiesa’s goals were enough to secure victory.

Scorers: Malinovskiy 41′; Kulusevski 31′, Chiesa 73′

After tormenting Giorgio Chiellini, Atalanta started brightly and could have taken the lead in the first five minutes, with Duván Zapata blazing wide from close range.

Dejan Kulusevski — formerly of Atalanta – curled a fantastic free-kick into the corner from the edge of the box to break the deadlock.

But La Dea came back from a ten-minute deficit to tie the game when Ruslan Malinovskiy scored with a trademark bullet strike past Gianluigi Buffon, continuing his superb streak.

After some wonderful work by Cristiano Ronaldo, the Bianconeri almost had their noses in front again in the second half, but Federico Chiesa’s shot rattled off the post.

But, just a few moments later, the youngster scored, finishing beautifully from close range and throwing the Old Lady bench into a frenzy.

And it was enough to give Juventus the trophy, which they will defend against Bologna on Sunday for a spot in the Champions League.

14 time in a row

Juventus defeated Atalanta 2-1 in the Coppa Italia final, putting forth a strong effort.

La Dea got off to a flying start, attacking at breakneck speed and causing all sorts of trouble for the Old Lady right away. On the other hand, the defense and Buffon held hard. After the referee dismissed strong appeals for a penalty around 15 minutes in.

We broke the deadlock after Juve had done very little in the first 30 minutes of the game.

When Dejan Kulusevski picked up the ball on the edge of the box. He curled it into the farm half of the goal with ease.

Our goal didn’t dissuade Atalanta, who gritted their teeth and pushed forward. And their efforts rewarded when Malinovskiy scored from just beyond the box to equal the score.

We couldn’t come out as strong in the second half as we had initially. But happily, it was a game of two halves.

After the break, the Old Lady seemed much more assured. And they had to use all of their concentration to keep their opponents at bay.

Federico Chiesa was the next to make a breakthrough. The Italian won the ball back deep inside the Atalanta half before taking control, beating the defender to run into the box. Then playing a lovely one-two off Kulusevski to break in behind the defense and score.

His performance made up for both his and Swede’s chances moments earlier. Forcing Gollini to make a save, and the duo was replaced shortly after by Leo Bonucci and Paulo Dybala.

For the final 15 minutes, Juve remained a solid unit, and Buffon had little work to do in goal. And there will be no complaints about the tie’s winners.
