EXCLUSIVE Real Madrid Want sell Asensio on the Market Real Madrid has recently put a €50 million price tag on Spanish international Marco Asensio, with Barcelona holding a close eye on his case.
Real Madrid are willing to sell many first-team stars this season, according to a source from Spanish publication OK Diario, in order to raise the funds needed to sign top targets Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. And Marco Asensio, a Spanish international, is one such player who the Merengues are willing to sell this summer.
Real Madrid has had Asensio since 2015, when he joined from Real Mallorca. The 25-year-old became an integral member of the first-team setup at the Santiago Bernabeu following a season on loan at Espanyol, and was hailed as the next big thing in Spanish football.
For his part, Asensio lived up to the billing in the early stages of his Real Madrid c areer, but his form has waned in recent months due to injuries. Despite getting plenty of chances this season, the 25-year-old has struggled to capitalize on them, scoring four goals and adding two assists in 34 games.
Real Madrid, like other Spanish clubs, is facing financial problems and is considering selling him during the summer transfer window. The Merengues are on the lookout for a new star forward, with Kylian Mbappé or Erling Haaland both expected to join the club before next season.
EXCLUSIVE Real Madrid Want sell Asensio on the Market Both strikers would demand large transfer fees, which Real Madrid will have to compensate for by selling some of their first-team players. Asensio, along with Raphael Varane, is said to be among those that could be sold, with Los Blancos currently valuing him at €70 million.
Real Madrid will claim €50 million for Asensio’s services, with arch-rivals Barcelona allegedly involved. The Blaugrana tried to sign the 25-year-old when he was still on the island of Mallorca, but were defeated by the Spanish capital club, as the player has previously mentioned.
According to the study, Asensio’s transition to the market could be of interest to the Catalans. True Madrid, on the other hand, would veto any such move because they have no intention of selling the Spaniard to their immediate rivals. Liverpool, the Premier League champions, have also expressed interest in the past.
So, we’ll have to wait to see what Asensio’s future holds. As things stand, the 25-year-old could be able to abandon Real Madrid at the end of the season. A transfer to Barcelona, on the other hand, remains impossible.
