Thiago Silva fifth deal in the summer Mercato for Chelsea

The English club Chelsea have terminated the deal with Brazilian defender Thiago Silva,

the former captain of Paris Saint-Germain, to join the Blues in a free transfer deal,

after the end of his contract with the Parisian club, making it the fifth deal in the summer Mercato concluded by the London club.


On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain thanked the Brazilian defender for his long career with the team and his eight-season t-shirt.


Paris Saint-Germain has decided not to extend silva’s 35-year contract,

which has played 315 games for the Parisian club,

including 293 as captains, since his move from AC Milan in the summer of 2012.

Chelsea confirmed in a statement on their official website that he has signed one of the biggest names in world football,

and that the contract with Thiago Silva came for one season, with the option to extend the contract for an additional season.

The contract with Thiago Silva is Chelsea’s fifth in the summer, and third at the level of the defense,

after contracting With Ajax midfielder Hakeem Zeyash Amsterdam, Timo Werner, striker Leipzig, Ben Chilwell, left-back Leicester City, and Malang Saar coming from Nice,

but the latter will spend the 2020-2021 season on the back to get the required experience before joining the Blues.

Thiago Silva said in remarks to the official website of his new club: «I am very happy to join Chelsea,

and I am happy to be in the exciting line-up of Frank Lampard for next season,

I am here to take the challenge and win the titles,

I see you soon with the Chelsea fans, and I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge soon.”
