Barcelona winger Ansu Fati underwent an arthroscopy, on Monday, under the supervision of surgeon Dr. Ramon Cugat, to put an end to his torn inner meniscus of the left knee.
The operation was successful, but Ansu Fati will be out of action for a period of not less than four months,
and this is at best, meaning that the young Spanish winger will not be available before next March.
The biggest challenge facing the medical team that performed the surgery for the Barcelona player was maintaining his original articular cartilage,
at his age, losing part of his articular cartilage would have been a real problem for him in the medium and long term,
especially at the level of cartilage degeneration and arthritis.
With this surgery, Ansu Fati will fully recover from the injury,
but his absence will last for four months, as mentioned in the second paragraph.
And if the medical team had resorted to removing part of Ansu Fati’s meniscus,
then his recovery time would not have lasted more than two months,
but the player’s condition would have witnessed setbacks and repeated injury in the future.
And Ansu Fati could have resorted to the treatment option without the need for surgical intervention,
in which case he would have been absent for only a month and a half, but the risks would have also increased in the future.
Barcelona published a statement on its official website in which he said:
“The first team player, Ansu Fati, underwent a successful operation today,
Monday, due to his injury to the inner meniscus of the left knee, and Dr. Ramon Cogat performed the operation under the supervision of the club’s medical services,
and the player will be absent from the stadium for about four months.”
“It is worth noting that Ansu Fati played the second half of the Barcelona and Real Betis match, and he showed good activity and activity.”
“This season, the Barcelona striker participated in 10 matches: 7 in the Spanish League and 3 in the Champions League,
with a total of 596 minutes, during which he scored five goals and passed two decisive balls.”
“At the age of 18 years old, Ansu Fati participated in 43 matches with Barcelona’s first team, during which he scored 13 goals and passed 3 crucial balls,
including 11 goals in the Spanish League and two goals in the Champions League
