Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he will seek to join Memphis Depay again to the Catalan club during the upcoming winter transfer market.
Depay’s name was on the table and the agreement between the player and Barcelona had been concluded,
and even the agreement between Barca and club Lyon had occurred,
but the financial crisis stood in the end, hindering his accession to Camp Nou.
The whole matter related that Barcelona exceeded the financial ceiling of the wages set by the Spanish Federation and had to sell one of its players,
the management actually tried to sell Osman Dembele or loan him, but it failed in the end.
Koeman commented on Depay’s case by saying,
“There is definitely a possibility that he will come in January.
I will try it because I love being here,
but I cannot estimate the financial condition of our club in January.”
He added, “We will have to wait to know our financial ability.
I do not have this role, rather it is for the club, as for me it is just a matter of waiting.”
He also added, “We wanted Memphis because he is a great player and has qualities that we lack in our team,
in my opinion, specifically at the heart of the attack in-depth.”
He concluded, “Of course I told him my ideas earlier and everything was ready in principle,
but the rules of the League of League we had to sell a player first, in the end,
it did not happen, it is very bad, but Memphis knew very well the situation.”
It is noteworthy that Barcelona, after dispensing with the services of Luis Suarez,
lacked any player in the position of the outspoken striker,
which forced Koeman to rely on Lionel Messi in the position of the imaginary striker to fill this deficit with an intelligent tactical solution.
