Spanish press reports have confirmed that the management of the Spanish club Barcelona and the technical staff, led by the Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, are not satisfied with the French Osman Dembele staying with the team and not moving to the Manchester United team during the recently elapsed summer Mercato.
Dembele has suffered many injuries since coming to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017.
The result of Dembele’s goals with Barca in 3 years did not exceed 19 goals and 75 participation,
most of them as a substitute, despite the fact that 145 million euros were spent on his signing deal.
The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” revealed in a report,
Thursday, that the club management was angry with Dembele for his refusal to move to Manchester United during the last Mercato.
The name Manchester United was associated with a contract with the French winger during the summer Mercato,
in light of his refusal to participate with Barcelona since the beginning of last season.
Reports indicated that the English club wants to obtain the services of the former German star Borussia Dortmund on loan for a season,
at a time when Barcelona wants to sell its French player permanently.
Barcelona’s anger came about the player’s refusal to leave Barca in the summer,
just as he did in 2019 by refusing to move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The newspaper stressed that Ronald Koeman indirectly told Dembele of his unwillingness to rely on him,
and his intention to join Memphis Depay of Olympique Lyon instead.
This came through not relying on Dembele in the Celtavejo and Sevilla matches,
despite his need over the course of the two matches for offensive players,
but the coach decided to rely on Pedri and Trinkau instead.
As for the club’s management, joining Depay would have meant paying a lower salary than Dembele,
but in order to sign the Dutchman, the Frenchman had to leave before her, which was rejected by the player,
which caused the management to anger, especially since Dembele’s failure to leave Dembele hindered the inclusion of Depay, due to the salary system.
The new set by La Liga, which had prevented the inclusion of Debye, would have meant overcoming Barca.
The newspaper stressed that Dembele did not listen to Koman’s message in the last hours of the Mercato,
and decided to stay deliberately, and not move on loan to Manchester United.
What added to the anger of Barca is that the failure to leave Dembele, who has only two seasons remaining in his contract,
will mean that the Catalan administration may have to sell him at a low price next summer,
as he will remain on his contract only one season, otherwise he will leave a year later for free after the club paid 145 million euros In hugging.
