Barcelona officially announced the departure of the third historic scorer of The Blaugrana, Luis Suarez, to Atlético Madrid during the current summer Mercato, after spending six years inside the Castle «Camp Nou».
The Catalan club published an official statement on its website, writing:
«Barcelona and Atlético Madrid have reached the transfer of Luis Suarez, and the Madrid club will pay Barça 6 million euros as variables.”
The statement continued: “Barcelona publicly expresses its thanks and appreciation to Suarez for his commitment and dedication to us,
and wishes him success and success in the future.”
Barça is due to hold a press conference on Thursday at 2:30 pm to bid farewell to the player,
who has worn his shirt since 2014 from Liverpool.
Suarez succeeded in resolving the issue of his departure with Barça officials on Tuesday and Wednesday,
after which he reached an agreement with Rojiblancos to become a new player in the ranks of Diego Simeone.
Suarez will sign a two-season contract with Atlético Madrid,
initially when the Catalan club learned of Suarez’s agreement with Atlético for 10 million euros, but the Club refused.
Suarez will leave Barcelona after Ronald Koeman informed him not to rely on him in his new project at the Catalan club and out of his accounts next season,
to leave a new legend from the Castle Of the Camp Nou.
Suarez’s career with Barcelona
Suarez arrived in Barcelona in 2014, for 80 million euros,
leaving The Bluagrana six years after the crowning of the Champions League once,
four Spanish leagues, and the likes of them in the Copa del Rey, two championships in the Spanish Super, and one in the European Super.
On an individual level, Suarez finishes his career with Barcelona as the third historical scorer of the Catalan club, with 198 goals,
and is surpassed by Cesar Rodriguez 238 goals, Lionel Messi, the owner of 634 goals,
and moments of brilliance in the shake of the net appeared in season 2 015-2016,
then he scored 40 goals in La Liga and won the Golden Boot, breaking the control of Messi and Ronaldo,
and the Uruguayan participated with Brazilian star Neymar da Silva,
in achieving the trilogy for the second time in the history of Barça under Luis Enrique.
A new adventure with Rojiblancos
At the age of 33, Suarez moves to Atlético Madrid to strengthen the offensive line after loaning Alvaro Morata to Juventus,
and Suarez is waiting to improve his numbers for last season after scoring 21 goals,
along with his new colleagues Diego Costa and João Felix, so he will start a new adventure in Madrid,
and continue to do what he likes to do, which is to delight his colleagues and fans of his club.
