Saudi press reports confirm that the next edition of the Club World Cup,
scheduled for December 2020 in The Qatari capital, Doha, has been cancelled due to Corona.
It seems that the impact of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic on the world of sports will continue in the coming period,
after the outbreak of the coronavirus Covid-19 caused the postponement and cancellation of several tournaments during the summer of 2020,
most notably the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the European Championships scheduled to be held in several countries around the old continent,
and several tennis tournaments such as the English Wimbledon Grand Prix and Formula 1 races.
Saudi press reports revealed that the 2020 edition of the Club World Cup, scheduled to be held in Qatar in December this year,
has been canceled.
The Saudi newspaper “Middle East” confirmed that the competitions committee of the Asian Football Confederation
informed the member federations that participate in the current version of the Asian Champions League that the Club World Cup, scheduled to be held in Doha,
has been canceled.
The AFC Champions League is scheduled to resume in the Qatari capital,
where participating clubs will gather in what looks like a “bubble” from mid-September until the final.
The same newspaper revealed that the new version of the Club World Cup,
scheduled to be held in China in the summer of 2021, may also be canceled,
due to the Tokyo Olympics and the Copa America Championship,
which are scheduled to be held in the summer of 2021 due to the new coronavirus “COVID 19”
after being postponed from the summer of this year.
During Thursday morning’s executive committee meeting,
the AFC decided to cancel the 2020 AFC cup final and the AFC Champions League final on December 19th in the West Asian region from one match,
not as usual from the two round-trip matches.
